A closer look on two amazing horror movies

Hereditary (2018) is a slow-burn horror movie that delves into family traumatic events. After the death of a member, strange things started happening within the house. The movie has some gut-wrenching scenes that can make the audience feel uncomfortable while watching. Not only that, Hereditary uses slow zooms to create a sense of uneasiness but there are no jump scares.

On the other hand, the pacing of Smile 2 (2024) is faster. Smile 2 (2024) is a supernatural horror movie that talks about passing the curse to other people. The movie relies more on jump scare which makes the audience feel anxious, Although Smile 2 is also about supernatural events, the plot of the movie was not as deep as Hereditary (2018).

The most iconic artwork by Takashi Murakami

I came across Takashi Murakami when I was studying about art, there was this picture of him posing in front of his artwork. What caught my eyes was the innocent looking flowers, the colorful palette and the way Murakami looked so full of joy. Source: 10 Contemporary Artists You Should Know The artwork is called 'Flowers, Flowers, Flowers'   created in 2010. What shocked me was despite having those smiley flowers, the artwork held a much darker message. According to Allen's article , Murakami's Flowers were his own perspective about Japanese people when they remembered about the 1945 Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Murakami hopes that his colorful, vibrant flowers can bring the meaning of renewal to them instead of remembering the traumatic event.
